- Hi gang, Well, most of you know I'm a MAC person, but I'm trying to help a friend recover files from a PC hard disk, This is a Compaq laptop with a CD-ROM drive and no floppy disk. The OS is corrupt

- Don't try and cut corners. Attempting to restore and run an OS on the current drive can result in further corruption or lost files. You don't know if a bad OS file in Win95 will be corrected or left

- The corrupted PC probably doesn't know it has a CD-ROM drive. If it had a floppy drive, you could use the Win95 CD to create a floppy boot disk on a 2nd machine, edit the autoexec.bat and/or config.s
