Careful with that jumper cable thing. Don't use jumper cables on a positive ground car from a negative ground car. Years ago I trashed an alternator on my 63 T-Bird to get my Bugeye started. Pete Phi

I had exactly the problem you describe, and it turned out to be a bad connection between the battery negative cable (negative ground) and the firewall. Of course, I didn't figure this out until after

Hey, the OTHER reason for connecting the second jumper cable (-ve) to the engine, and not direct to the battery terminal is that you can get a fat spark as you connect up and batteries give off Hydro
