- Sounds like, IMHO, that you got a needle bearing failure in one (or both) of the rear trunions. There is no inner race for the inner needle bearing, and the bearing works directly onto the axel shaft

- May not be as severe as the rear trunnion bearings - I would first check your UJs. However, dodgy UJs are usually most signified by a clunk as you hit the accelerator, or lift off for engine braking
