Quit working, went to engage it and it would not engage. Got to where I was going and when I left I engaged the OD and it worked. Had to disengage it for some traffic and went to turn it on again and

Sounds like mine, except I was the one who rigged up the switch. The OD units are usually quite reliable and the problem is almost always in the solenoid or the circuit. I don't know about the 78 ver

Also check the operation of the gearbox switch (I assume you have one) - sometimes you can make the o/d switch in and out by pulling the lever around while it is in 4th if the switch is marginal. If
