Doug 948s did not have the hole in the head for the sending unit. I'm not sure about 1098 heads And yes 1275s have the extra hole. 1098 heads work well on 948s, 1275 heads do not work well on 948s (w

You have a hole in your head? That head is from a 1275, which you correctly determined was for the temperature probe. Do your self a favor and move your probe to the head and plug the hole in the rad

I just happened to have a 1098 head hanging around. it has the 12G206 markings. This is the less desirable 1098 head so I am told. It has a hole just ahead of the number one sparkplug. It is plugged.

I have David Vizard's book "How to modify your Mini". Lots of great "A" Series stuff in it. In one of the tables he lists the 206 head as rare. Got any ideas why. Also he says the 291 head is a bett

You could have a 1098 head, they have the plug at the front and have the same bore layout. If you do use the hole on the head for your temp probe, be sure to use the spacer that comes from the 1275
