Still trying to sort my brakes out to get Sammy II (formerly Nancy) MOT'd and on the road. The problem seems to be that the first few inches of pedal travel are doing nothing - the only resistance I'

Thanks for the input Robert. I don't own a Dremel - I'd be happy to buy one (always happy to have an excuse to enlarge my tool collection!), but I really doubt that it would be able to fit in to that

I know that space is tight under the dash, but that may be another option. Use a set of vice grips (mole grips?) to get the machine screw from under the dash next to the pedal. I can't look right now

Check your rear brake adjustment. The pedal will have free play until the rear shoes contact the drum. If the rear brakes are not adjusted correctly the free play will be excessive. An easy test is

Good idea about the rear brakes (Kelvin and Mike) - but I already adjusted those (in fact I replaced the adjusters 'cos the old ones had rusted solid) as part of the general overhaul I've done on the

There are a couple of possibilites. the first is that you have a bad master. You can chek it easily by using line clamps. Clamp each of the three brake hoses. Press the pedal, it should be rock hard.

I've never worked on a GT, but there is probably a big rubber in the firewall under the dash. Pull it out to get access to the master cylinder bolts. Marc [demime 1.01d removed an attachment of type

What are you comparing it with? I know some cars have very sharp and immediate brakes. There should always be some free travel in the pedal before they start applying, but they should be locked with
