Do you really want to risk your stereo system to faulty insulation? At least on early cars, there is a metal dash, and ground all around! This is a chance I would not take, and my local high end auto

you can use a convertor from r.s. or anywhere else, they work ok. However, you may notice a whine in your speaker like a bad plug whine, only even with the ignition off, using a converter because of

DO NOT try to insulate the car from ground! The antenna system is still grounded to the car! (spark sizzle etc)

A couple of things: I have not tried to hook up a radio this way and only mentioned this technique in passing. My 1955 Healey was converted to neg ground. Again, I was only responding to another LBC
