Oven cleaner works great but the fumes are nasty so do it o/s. I recently cleaned a filthy head with it and it came out quite clean but you have to be careful with aluminum as it will discolor it. A

Easyoff oven cleaner does work great, but realize it will remove paint. I do not recommend spraying it in the engine bay or getting it on the head (it will heavily corrode aluminum). The time to use
