Yes, actually, motor oil will cause some types of "rubber" to soften and swell. I'd stay away from petrolium based lubes. You would be better off using a silicone lubricant. I've used dish washing li

Don't use vaseline, it's petroleum based. You might have to settle for liquid soap. I use it when changing tires and it works fine.The bushings that I have seen on the springs have a metal bushing in

Hi Richard, The bushings don't need any lubricant, though it may be a help when you are installing them to wet them with ArmorAll or soapy water. As to the bolts, they can be real buggers to remove.

Hi Mike, I wouldn't use motor oil for this purpose, as one doesn't know in advance if it will affect the rubber bushings. For some reason, unknown to me, motor oil will slowly dissolve motor mounts..
