My front carb (HIF4) is running too rich and turning the mixture screw "anti-clockwise" has limited effect. The front plugs are black with carbon but not wet. Any suggestions? Gary 74B

Stuck jet? I would take the air filters off, put the choke bracket on, and check to make sure the jets move back up equally after you disengage the choke. David 71 BGT --

A good thought, David, but HIFs don't have jets that are moved up and down by a conventional choke mechanism. They have an enrichening circuit that supplements the fuel flow. Your advice would, howev

It looks like I hit the send button too soon. I know the SU HS4 carbs pretty good. But admittedly, I am not too familiar with the other models. So I usually throw in a disclaimer along those lines. B

I think of the idle screw and the mixture screw in the same way - you have to screw them both in to get more of what they adjust. PaulH.
