1. It should come out backwards like a bolt 2. Enough to back the broken part but if you break the extractor (ez out, in the parlance) you have even more problems. They are next to impossible to dril

Well gone and done it now. the extractor broke off in the hole. Thought I was going easy, had soaked the thing in PB blaster and was turning it by hand so as not to break it or create metal shavings.
