I would consider checking my trans fluid level. The "J-type" overdrive does have some delay in engaging, but only a couple of seconds, at most. The one sure way to destroy one of these overdrives, is

Hi Paul Have you done all the usual checks fluid / leaks? Do you have A or J-type O/D as this makes a difference. Apparently the A has to loose less oil than the J before it stops working due to the

I had the same thing happening on mine. The bearings in the transmission were disintergrating and blowing the synchros also. This in-turn, was mucking up the overdrive bearings etc. BUT, I also had a
