I also had this effect on my 60 Bugeye. It was more pronounced as temperature rose also. Adjustments made it better, but I concluded that the ultimate cause was that the bar had a bend in 3 different

Take a look at the space where the bar slips in. I'm guessing it's spread open more than it should be allowing the bar to slip out. If you site down the edge, you'll be able to see if it's distorted
