In regards to a problem with the 1600 thermostat/fill housing: If you don't need show quality I'd be tempted to try JB Weld (epoxy). You can also have a radiator shop add a fill spout to the radiator

I tried to modify a 1600 rad and the problem was the filler neck would be too high and the hood wouldn't close. Fortunately I used a spray paint can top, placed on the rad to test the clearance first

BTW, dump the studs and use bolts and if you can, have helicoils installed on the head as aluminum is very soft which is why they used studs. After the first time I tried to remove that contraption I
