found out that there is a required 0.020 to 0.070 end float necessary which apparently was not set in when the distributor gear was installed. Lesson learned. I have just recently completed a full re

Don't feel bad Jay. I've learned the lesson about distributor pedestal clearance the hard and expensive way myself. Clean the block very carefully--you pretty much have to take it completely apart. H
