Here's the thing: I _like_ "drag race" starts. For me, the ideal start is a straight section for at least 5 car lengths. But AWD and launch control systems aside, I've discovered that nearly *all* st

I don't think we're talking about the same thing. I don't disagree that a turn immediately before the lights needs to be taken as aggressively as possible. However, that doesn't necessarily require l

On the North course of this year's Nat's, I took a similar approach. (Sorry for those who could not run the North Course.) My CM Swift was not geared properly for a good launch on concrete, being gear

Here's the way I approach Nartionals-style "turn at the start" starts. Pretend for a second that the entry to the start is preceeded by a long straight - that it's a "normal" corner. What would your

This is true of a simple turn-before-start type thing. What I have seen is a straight, maybe 30 or 40 feet long, and a tight chicane type turn. This design totally eliminates entrance speed as a fact

IMHO, the fallacy in your reasoning lies in the fact that the clock is not running. This permits you to get away with things you could not afford if you were on the clock. Like a wider turn, or a slo
