You can also free a stuck starter by putting it in 4th gear and rocking the car. A bit easier when you are "in a jam" ;) Most of the times it is a bum starter and not neccessarily the ring gear. Not

Don't know what year your car is, but on my 1500 the machine shop turned my ring around on the flywheel and it works beautifully! I mentioned this before and those who have not tried it said it could
