Before I finish reassembling the gear box I want to ask this question. Should the cones that the syncro rings slide onto be bright? Mine seem to be tarnished or have some king of residue on them. Sho

The syncros are like the oil pump in the engine DO NOT RE USE. They are the one part that makes changing gears smooth and if you don't chenge them you will have a grinding when changing gears. Also h

I believe he's asking about the mating conical surfaces of the gears that the baulk rings must grip onto to synchronize the speeds, not the synchros themselves. Rich Chrysler
