To all, I am taking a break this morning and couldn't help hit the list with an unexpected discovery. I'm sure many of us have MG projects going this weekend. I certainly have. Yesterday, my son's '7

Did your bearing have a "plastic/composite " housing, mine does. my big concerne is the heat generated by the constant pressure. I also have never heard of the " spring kit " what is it supposed to d

Hi R., This is all news to me! What residual hydraulic pressure? When the clutch is engaged there's no force applied to the throwout arm unless something isn't working right. Moreover, if the roller

Yes on just about every roller throw out bearing I've seen! One, in a Midget, had the bearing case and ears made of a nylon/plastic material. Needless to say, it didn't last very long either. Becaus

Nope, never seen that one. The ears on that bearing must have been pretty soft. CR

Hmmm. I tend to question the wisdom of putting any grease on the ears of throw-out bearing casting. I thought the casting was made of a softer metal with some brass in it. With some brass, a little g

Interesting theory. The puzzling thing is that I've never seen this on other old throwout bearings, specially on this particular car. R. Johnson - Dallas

When the clutch failed on my roadster the release bearing ear on one side had completely worn away. I replaced the clutch and fitted a roller bearing, both from the MGOC, on the principle that it mus

My mechanic says that the roller thrust bearings got attention about 10 years ago, but quickly proved to last much shorter than the standard carbon throwout bearings. His strong advice is to go with
