If you pull the tranny first, you will definitely have to support the back of the block. The front mounts will fail rather than support the engine. I'll second Wayne's suggestion to remove the engin

I would pull the engine and trans as a unit. Otherwise you have to support the engine. But to be safe, pull both as one unit. I think that what the shop manual recommends. Bob Labuz 1958 TR3A 1974 T
