since you knocked out that paint color question so fast here's another: my car seems to have air injection equipment and no cat. it's a 75 and my understanding is the cat came in 77 except california

paranoid redundancy...? ... don't really know. Polution stuff is my weakest area except when it comes to removing or circumventing it. I think the air injection helps with unburned combustion gasses

I thought (and I may be wrong) that the air pump helped with unburnt hydrocarbons in the exhaust, adding oxygen for complete combustion. The catalutic converter helps speed up the CO -> CO2 reaction
