I know there was a recent discussion on tyres and several web pages with info, but I want to get a list consensus. I have currently on my 1500 Spit, 205 -70-13 tyres, which I think are too big, appea

I have Michelin XZX 165SR13 tires mounted on 5 inch alloy wheels. The tires are now almost 19 years old. The big problem I have had with them is that the back tires rub the fenders BIG TIME on every

I use 175-70R13 Pirelli's and they work fine. On your 205's look on the tires (tyres, if you will) for evidence of rubbing. Also check the points where they are likely to rub. The binding might not b

I have 205 13s, not sure if they're 60's or 70's, but if you can find the Spitfire Garage Website, there is a discussion on it there, and my tire size is specified there. I have not had any problem w

What alloys? Are they offset to the outside? I'm running 185/70's on TR7 5" or 5.5" rims with no trouble. Gregory W. Smith http://users.desupernet.com/gsmith/ Member, Central Pennsylvania Triumph Clu

I have Pirelli P400's in 175/70/13 on 5" wide rims, and like them a lot. The 205 will need at least a 6" wide rim. They will fit on narrower rims but your handling will go down the tubes. Not to ment

Do you know the offset of the wheels?. There is enough room inside the wheelwells to run 205's, but the wheel offset is critical. I have run 205's with 5.5 wheels, but the front and rear wheels need

I just mounted the 175-70-13's after much analysis of tyres. I am very satisfied with them. No conflict with body parts, rubbing, scraping, etc. I bought the Pirrelli 400. It seemed to have the best

How is the handling of the Pirelli's compare to your original 155's? I have generic brand 165/80's, and I am not too happy with them. I notice that if I give a wheel hub a quick shove sideways, the c

This may have more to do with the offset of the rims. I have 5.5 inch wide rims on my '73, with 175/70s. I do have the occasional rubbing on hard bumps, but that is rare. Doug Mitchell

I believe recommendations for a 175/70 13 tire are 4.5"-6" rims, so the 1970 and later Spitfire rims are ok. Meanwhile, 175/70 is about the maximum width for a 4.5" wheel. I don't know as it's danger
