Had the same problem a while ago, and the volt. stablizer was loose. After tightening everthing went normal. Youve probable checked that, just a thought. Steve Hubbard O.

Possibly, although if I watch carefully I have always been able to see the gauges move slightly on both my cars. Slightly and slowly does indicate it is coming from the 'stabiliser' (an amusing term)

More likely to be the sender unit, which is a small screw in sensor on the right front (if my memory serves me correctly) of the engine block. It has a wire running from it which provides the signal
