I pulled out dual water temp/oil pressure gauge (orginal Bugeye gauge) from my parts car to see if it worked. Made sure dial moved okay, then cleaned sensor end & placed in boiling water. No dial mov

There is some type of volatile liquid in the capillary tube (the bulb at the end is a reservoir). I have on a couple occasion successfully soldered these back together when the tube has snapped, but

I think "reagent" grade alcohol is different from "denatured" alcohol. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I recall reagent grade as being pure and denatured alcohol as having water added to it. Mark Ha

I believe reagent alcohol is an acid form while denatured has no H2O in it since you can use it instead of dy gas. It does absorb alot of water. I used it in my 1949 Farmall( is that Triumph related?

I looked up reagent in Mosby's Med Dic and it is a chemical prepared in a specific wasy to accomplish a reaction in another chemical for test purposes. So it could be alcohol, acid, enzyme or alkalin
