The Prepared classes were listed before the Street Prepared, which came into the program with the idea of allowing cars that run with a lot of different car tweaks and wider rims than allowed in Prep

Because Prepared is not a progression from Street Prepared. Both are different progressions from Stock. In other words, there are two progressions: Stock -> Street Prepared -> Modified Stock -> Prepa

The ultimate goal in the future for this is a wheel+tire size rule, where the combination must fit into say a 10"x25" box, any wheel or tire width you want, so long as it meets those final dimensions

rules were the same as the Prepared? Then if you raced your car in SP for a couple of years and decided to jump to P you would already have the correct wheels and wouldnt have to spend another grand

Except that the SP competitors don't want to have to get rid of their wide wheels and go back to the Prepared sizes. I suppose we could allow any widths in Prepared... CHD

I think it's the 5.5 -7" rim limits in DP and EP that raise the eyebrows (and the sweat beads on the tire changers) more than anything. 9.5" slicks on a 13x6 is not a real pretty sight :( (on a 1725
