The disconnect switch MUST be accessible in any attitude the vehicle may come to rest in. If behind a door or panel might not be the best idea. NHRA style at the rear of the vehicle is good. The elec

Jim Miller has made the suggestion that the SCTA/BNI provide the entrants with a standerdized sticker to identify the switch location. The sticker would be available at tech inspection. I would guess

I would think the best place would be as close to the battery as possible. In an NHRA car the battery is typically in the trunk. The reason I think closest to the battery is best is because the wire

The switch is not required until 12/31/2000, this gives you a year (approx.) to desigin and locate the switch. The rule does not specifically locate the switch because of the eclectic mix of vehicles

I have had a cut off switch on my /CC for ten years now. It's mounted on the firewall, because its close to the battery as Dave suggested. Lionel's old Lakester had two batteries mounted in the rear

On my Vega my batteries are in the trunk and my switch is mounted on the panel between the rear bumper and the trailing edge of the deck lid. When I mount one on the roadster it will be similarly loc

Keith; I would agree that the switch needs to be in common location and somewhere that it will be easy to get to even if the car is upside down or on its side. That's why mine and I think Jacks are o

I would highly recommend that you wire-up the switch on the positive side of the battery. The problem with the negative side is if you run an alternator, the motor may still run ( had it happen ). NH

I mounted the battery in the rear of my car a couple of years ago. At that time I installed a cut-off switch in the circuit (positive cable). I mounted it just below the trunk lid. It is accessible

If the cut off isn't in very close proximity to the battery it possibly defeats the purpose. If a standard location was chosen the switch could be operated remotely by a cable like a pto cable. I've

I absolutely agree that the switch should be in a standardized location. Rule out where it sholuldn't be, and there are only about two places left. It shouldn't be on the top, either side, or the bot
