Hey all, In some of my reading on the web, I seem to be under the impression that some MGBs came with dual 6-volt batteries instead of a single 12v battery. My questions: 1) Is this so? 2) Why? Good

Not so fast there quickdraw. My '78 MGB only has one hole for a battery, so my guess is that it came with only one battery, a 12V. I believe the earlier models has twin 6Vs, and they converted over s

Most did. I converted my '74 B to a single Group 26 battery this summer. Now in winter I've found that the single battery doesn't quite have the cranking power that the duals did. However, I'm also n

Craig, Well, if worse comes to worse and your lack of cranking power becomes a problem, you can get a second Group 26 battery, put it in the other well, and wire them in parallel. There are even rel

Scott and others, This is quite commonly done when converting a VW from 6-volt to 12-volt. VW didn't go to 12v until 1967. There are quite a few folks on the VW Bus list I'm on who convert and then
