Has anyone pulled the rocker shaft off a 1275 leaving the non-rocker side head nuts tight and swapped the rocker shaft without doing the head gasket? Do the offside bolts keep the gasket from leaking

You should drain the coolant and loosen all the head stud nuts just enough so you don't have uneven pressure all on one side. I'd think you'd end up with potential problems if you loosen only one si

Yep, done exactly that and didn't have any troubles at all. I think I slackened and all just a fraction and then re-torqued. Didn't drain the coolant. No leaks or blown gasket afterwards. Guy side he
