Do you have the straight gearshift lever or is it "bent" back towards the rear of the car. Sometime in production they went from a straight lever to a bent one for the same reason your describing. M

I have cut gearshifts down before using a, ahem, faster method. If the gearshift has a boot when installed, I just take out a section of the middle and weld the ends together. Do it all underneath th
