Yes SU carbs can replace ZS but may not solve your problem. You mentioned that you could rotate the distributor and stop the pinging but it would return. Is the distributor slipping after you make t

Bob--Philip may have solved your problem, if it turns out to be merely a "slipping" distributor. I'd agree that this should be looked at first, since it's easy, quick and cheap. Do it with a timing l

I would like to give my 2 cents worth on this subject. I would hesitate to and definitely not trash the carbs. If you want to set your car up with a different carb system I would go to a Weber set up
