I disagree Steve. These old Ford starter solenoids have a relay in them to bypasses the ballast resistor during starting. I discovered this the hard way when I was having starting problems many year

Interesting.. I thought it was just a simple relay too but, when I put it back in i found out it matters which wire goes to which side of the coil... BTW, I'm still on my original solenoid, its never
