- Let me make a guess, the ammeter reads + - 30 amps and your starter draws 300 amps and for some reason you have your starter wired wrong and it's feeding thru the ammeter??

- Mine does the same thing, except I don't need to tap it to come back onscale. I would imagine the problem is that the starter solenoid draws more than 30 amperes. Mark
