You're right Larry, I should have been back to this sooner! The answer is: it depends, but while in motion, it generally flows from the air cleaner to the valve cover if everything is in good shape.

That "pipe" originally was packed with filter material. On a TC there are two little "legs" that support the air cleaner cannister as it lies across the valve cover. They form a triangle with those s
