Head to a scrap yard and claim a Honda jack for your MG. they collapse down where you can get the base under a front pan or under the rear spring mount if you had a flat tire. Also works fine at the

Why not get one of those space-saver "donut" spares from a car with the same size 4 bolt pattern (like a Saab) as the MGB? That would save you some trunk space and still let you drive somewhere to g
