I have had one catastrophic tire failure due to "tube chafing". However, the cause was the fact that the tire store used an incorrect size tube - the stuffed a tube made for a larger tire application

Actually I use talc powder as well as run with a higher pressure--(there are pros/cons on doing that), but the combo works for me. This is after I remove the inner tire lables. tom <healeys@autox.tea

If the stem is pushed against the hole or leaning it means that the tube has rotated inside the tire. One needs to take the wheel off, deflate the tube, break the bead and shift the tube. Eventually

I hit the same problem with new Dunlop RS5's on the original 48 spoke BN2 rims (my other ones are the 72 spoke with 185/70 Vredesteins and tubes discussed below), large hole and small diam valve stem
