David, these must be NOS from yonks back. Was a time about 20 years ago that 
Lucas did
some 'all makes' own branding on a host of replacement parts outside of 
electricals.

Seems as though Mintex is an unfamiiar name to you? If you're satisfied with 
them, you've
got a good make as Mintex is always associated in UK with brake friction 
material. Has
been for well over 70 years. Not surprised they're made in Canada. Got the part 
number?
