I haven't got much done on the PI lately what with one thing and another
("another" being the weather!!). But anyway, this is what I have been up
to.I completely stripped the engine bay of wires, wiper motor, brake/clutch
pipes etc etc etc.., and using the angle-grinder with 120grit pads I have
started to clean all the old paint off, I thought about getting the bay
sandblasted but a little toooooo much would have got blasted like the
painted suspension
Xmember and the POR15 inside the nose cone so I'm doing it the manual way!!
I cleaned the outside of the overdrive/gearbox and then pulled the OD off
the 'box to see what kind of mess they were in. Inside they're so clean it
looks like they've had work done on them recently and also the mainshaft is
sitting in austrailan made bearings.
I then pulled the overdrive down, and lying in the base were some metal
shavings!!, so I pulled some more bits off and found that the roller cage
had been eating itself around the tongues, I'll have to get another one of
those, but apart from that everything else looks fine.
I've had a new set of gaskets made, so the car won't disgrace itself on
white driveways anymore!!
