Greg---One possible reason for the different capacities on the TR6 gas
tanks during their model years could be the emission control devices
placed on them, as time went on. As in the vent pipe to the carbon
cannister had to take up some room, so the neck of the tank went longer,
(I think,) and volume was lost. Then, so no spillage could occur from
overfillng, or hard cornering, more restrictions took place in the neck.
None of the U.S. suppliers could tell me the capacity of the replacement
tanks they sell, but sell only one. Rimmer Bros. in England claim to
sell the "universal" one to fit all TR6's, and it supposedly holds 12.5
U.S. gallons. I would like to get a 13.5 gal. tank for my '73, but won't
pay the price of $400 + dollars for the privilege of two extra gallons.
(Maybe, if I ever have to replace the original!)

Owners should also state whether overdrive is fitted to their car, when
reporting mileage. My non-OD gets 17 in town and 22 on the highway, if I
behave myself.
