I understand your frustration.  A few years ago I had a string of about
5 or 6 bad throwout bearings, had to pull the freakin' gbox every few
weeks for a couple months!  It was ridiculous.  I'm 99% sure it's
impossible to pull the gearbox out without removing the interior. 
However, one tip to make it easier, is when removing the seats.  Take
the seats off the runners (leaving the runners attached to the floor),
rather than taking the seat/runner assemblies out of the car in one
piece.  This is only two bolts per seat which are very easy to get at,
rather than the four bolts per seat holding the runners to the floor,
which are a pain sometimes.  

Hey, just be glad you don't have to pull the whole engine out to get
the gearbox out.  That was the case with my friend's MGB which I helped
him put a new clutch in last year.  And it's even harder to pull the
gearbox out from under the car while leaving the engine in, as I helped
do on my dad's Stag.  We TR6 owners have it made in comparison!
