Ryan---You can always take out the plugs and look at them. While a 'bad'
plug is not always obvious, like covered with black goo, it can usually
tell you something about the state of engine tune. Others may tell you
to disconnect one plug (wire) at a time with the engine running. When
you get to the bad plug, the rpm won't drop any, as it wasn't doing any
work to begin with. You can even buy a new set of plugs and change them
one at a time, trying the engine in between, if it's important to know
the dead cylinder.
