Jim,
Several points/suggestions:
1. The 7/8" wheel cylinders will give a slightly softer pedal than the
stock .70" cylinders.
2. Try this method of adjusting your rear brakes - its at

3. TR6s have power assist front brakes. It is completely normal for your
brake pedal to get a bit easier to push when the engine is running. That is
the power assist working.
4. If there's no leaks, no mysterious "loss" of brake fluid, and your
brakes are stopping the car just fine, its probably ok.

Only two more day till we head out to TRF Summer Party up the Blue Ridge
Parkway (extra travel days required for mandatory Triumph Tubing Down the
River event up on the Blue Ridge (no deliverance jokes please). I just
replaced the rear wheel cylinders with VB Sunbeam 7/8 inch bore type. They
bolted right up! Now here's the dumb question. All other brake components
are new, I bled the system twice to get the air out. The pedal is firm and
works great when the car is not running. When I start the car the pedal
gets very squishy from the power vacuum assist. Is there supposed to be a
softer pedal when the car is running and it has a power assist servo? I have
adjusted the rear brakes by turning the adjuster until the wheel locked then
turned two 1/4 clicks back. The first click wasn't enough as they locked up
quickly. The brakes stop the car firmly but it is a squishy pedal. As soon
as the car stops running the pedal is firm again. It's a relatively new
(less than 18 months servo). This could be just me since I haven't driven
the car that much lately. Any advice would be appreciated and hope to see
some of you up at TRF next weekend. I'll be driving the Yellow TR6 with the
Calvin peeing on an MG logo sticker on my hood.
