I hope my story is a lesson to others that sometimes reading topics that
don't appear to pertain to your car might be of help. I read this
thread earlier in the day and it prompted a thought (I'm allowed one
original thought per day).

I've been trying to track down a "sound" in my car for months that I
could never isolate. It appeared to be of a metal-to-metal nature and
being an optimist I feared serious engine or tranny trouble. But I
still checked high and low with no luck - until today that is.

I went out to my car to see if I had a front rubber seal on my hood out
of curiosity. I don't. But I am also missing the companion rear rubber
seal. This I believe is the source of my mysterious rumblings.

I've yet to verify it, but I'm pretty darn sure that I'm in the clear.
And this makes me feel much, much better so a big hearty thanks to the
list for all the info and tips that are shared on a daily basis.

Bummed that I missed the TRF Summer Party, but happy that I now have an
answer to one of those elusive problems.

Thanks again,

Al,

My car didn't have that seal either. I installed mine with the bonnet
open.
I don't remember it being that difficult.

Listers,
I just found out that I don't have the front rubber seal that fits
between the upper valence and the bonnet. Someone informed me that the
only way to install the seal is to remove the bonnet. Is that true and
has anyone fitted the seal without removing the bonnet?
