All,
I see on eBay sellers of LED (light emitting diodes) lamps for stop, turn
and other markers. E.g., see:

The virtue of LEDs are that they are (very) bright (a good thing in our
LBCs), last almost for ever, and do not suffer from heat problems as do
equivalently bright halide lamps which can melt the plastic housing.
The downside of these lamps (for the purists) is that the lamps, when lit,
appear to have a honey-comb appearance, rather than a hot-spot. Personally,
I think they look cool.
The globes we use on TR6s have the following lamp numbers:
#1156 parking light, rear turn signal, backup light
#1157 stop light, tail light, front turn signal
#1895 front and rear side markers
I'm thinking of trying the LED lamps, unless anyone has tried already and
found they do not fit.
