Hi,

When I've had problems getting one upper bearing shell into the block,
I've slackened _all_ the main caps and then inserted the one (or ones)
that did not cooperate.

As far as whether the job is practical (an in situ bearing replacement),
I'd say "hell yes, it's practical". A lot of folks have run their TR6 for
150K miles or so before needing to re-grind the crank by doing the in
place thing.

I say - go for it. It's a messy job, but it pays off in the long run.

FWIW, the rod bearings seem to take more punishment than the main crank
bearings.
