   If I didn't have eye-witnesses, I couldn't tell this story...
On the way home from the Vintage weekend at Watkins Glen last year,
a friend and his wife (in their TR6) were following me (in my TR6)
up Rte. 209 in Ulster County, NY. We were cruising along at about
60 when I saw a HUGE doe come out of the woods on the left side of
the road at a full gallop and heading right towards me. I couldn't
stop (there'd have been a TR6 in my trunk) so I stomped on it and
veered as far onto the right shoulder as I could and waited for the
thump. When it didn't come, I glanced in my rear view mirror and
all I saw was feet! The doe realized she was going to hit me and
had jumped and completely cleared the trunk of the TR6. Had it hap-
pened a few milleseconds sooner, she probably would have kicked me
in the head!
