Yes, you can repair the mount from below if the only damage is the crack you
describe. You should inspect carefully to make sure that you have determined
all the damage there is. Keep in mind that some damage can be hard to see
until you have the differential out and can see everything clearly. What type
of weld and repair you need to do to the mount really depends on how extensive
the damage is. Obviously your finished product needs to be sufficiently strong
and you may not know what you have to do to make it that way until you clean
the weld joint and begin the process.
