It looks like there is more than one method to deal with the flexible 
coupler. The hose clamp method was stuck in my brain, I think the idea came 
from an 
old TRF catalog. In my case, I happen to have the right size clamp available 
and my slip joint pliers would have been too small. A C-clamp would also work.
