Since about July I have had a problem with my oil 'idot' light coming after
several minutes of driving. First the light was dim but as the engine warmed
up the light was at full brightness. I assumed it was the oil sensor and
replaced it and the condition immediately returned (well at least it was a
cheap part).

The oil pressure gauge worked fine so I then drove the car to Omaha from St.
Louis to our new home in early August. After the eight hour trip to Omaha the
ignition light would come on and stay on. I would take the car out and after
stopping the battery would be almost drained of power. I happen to notice the
anti-run on valve was warm to hot to the touch so I assumed it had gone bad
over the years of use and was shorting out after warming up. I replaced it
yesterday and the car ran great - I could hear it 'click on' when I started
the car and the ignition and oil lights returned to their 'normal' mode of
operating. Tonight I got into the car to make a run to a local hospital; to
visit a co-worker, and the ignition light was back at it's full brightness and
the voltage gauge was not charging up as it normally does. The anti run-on
valve is no longer 'clicking' when I turn on the key so it's not working
again...

Any thoughts from the list on what to check?
