Hi John,

The thread that hold the pipes in on the brakes and clutch components are 
not NPT (national pipe thread).  NPT is a tapered thread meant to create 
sealing joints.
The clutch and brake component threads are straight threads, because these 
joints are compression seals. The nut makes the seal by driving the bubble 
flare down into the seat to make a compression seal. The threads do not make 
a seal.

Triumph used 2 sizes of threads and compression nuts.  The thread on the 
clutch master (mine at least) is 7/16" x 24 threads per inch.
