        Usually this is because the switch is not close enough to the
steering column. There is enough slop in the mounting holes that you can
loosen the screws, push the switch towards the column, and while holding
the switch tightly in place, tighten the screws. Worked for me.
        If the signals are canceling in one direction, but not the
other, then Dick's suggestion applies - you will need to center the
steering wheel, usually by adjusting the front tie rods.

Al---Most of the signal canceling problems that I've seen are the result
of incorrect front wheel alignment adjustments. We know that the tierods
should be equal* in length, to keep the steering wheel and its shaft
"centered". This keeps the canceling cam/clip in the right position to
knock off the turn signals, as the wheel returns to center.
To see if this might be part or all of your setup, you can point the
wheels straight ahead, look inside the turn signal opening and see if
the clip is right between the left and right trips.

*If the tie rod adjustment threaded rods look equal, you can  center the
cam clip by repositioning the steering shaft splined shaft where it
enters the steering rack.

There are owners who have rewired their turn signal warning lights into
the "Hazard" light, to give better awareness that the signal is still
blinking.  Of course, only the old folks would do this!

I had been having a problem with my turn signals, in that they don't
cancel. I once replaced the switch with a used one and that one at least
canceled itself on left turns but it eventually shorted out so I put my
original back in that doesn't cancel. 
I then get this bright idea that I'll put a new one in and that will
solve the problem. 
No such luck. It barely hits the clip on the steering shaft. I don't see
where the clip is worn down. I can't even budge the clip so it would hit
in a different spot. 
I am going to order another clip hoping that maybe two of them doubled
up will make enough contact. 

I know that this is a problem that most of the cars seem to have because
when we caravan somewhere theres always someone getting honked at to
turn their directionals off. 

Has anyone solved this?

Hello,

I'm about to install the "intermediate" steering column to the lower
column and steering rack. I can't tell if there is a particular way the
column needs to "point" when the car is going straight ahead. For
example, does the turn signal canceling clip need to be pointed at the
turn signal switch, 180 degrees out, or ...? If anyone knows the answer,
please drop me a line.
